Weeklong Road Closure, Detours Coming To Bethany Road In Hazlet
Hazlet police are preparing residents in advance for a weeklong closure of Bethany Road at the railroad crossing.
HAZLET, NJ — NJ Transit will be replacing the double track at the Bethany Road crossing, starting early next month, police here said.
Police will continue to post about the road closure and will soon post a map of the detour, the department said.
"We are giving advanced and multiple notice of this closure due to Bethany Road being a heavily traveled roadway," the department said in a Facebook post.

Bethany Road at the train tracks will be closed for construction on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 8 a.m. and reopen in the morning at 8 a.m. on Friday Nov. 11.
The weekday work will be completed between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the weekend work will be completed between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be detours with ample signage posted. You will not be able to cross over the tracks, even if you live "right there," police said.
Please follow the posted detour to reach your destination.
Residents of Garden Park and Sterling Meadows neighborhoods will only be able to access their homes from the State Highway 35 side of Bethany Road.
Residents of Craig Street, Mark Street and those who need to reach Telegraph Hill Road can access those roads from the Holmdel Road side of Bethany Road.
No vehicular traffic will be permitted to travel over the train tracks during this construction, police emphasized.
The Board of Education Transportation Department was notified of this closure because it will affect bus routes for the first couple days of the construction, police added.
