Dead Body Found In North Jersey Home Had Been There For 7 Months: Report

Dead man's wife was hospitalized after being found unresponsive in mid-April.

The dead body found in a Sussex County home last month was decomposing for about seven months, authorities announced.

Francis Brattole, 67, was identified as the skeletonized body found in a Wantage home in mid-April, njherald.com reported.

Authorities identified Brattole through dental records, the report said.

Police responded to the home on April 17 after a farmer called authorities to say he saw an unresponsive woman on the front porch. When police arrived, they found the woman who was unable to communicate and took her to Newton Medical Center.

The woman was identified as Brattole’s wife, Ursula, njherald.com reported.

During the initial investigation of the home, police found the man on a bed partially decomposed. A dead cat was also found in the back of a car on the property.

Troopers also said they noticed debris and garbage throughout the home and no electricity was running through the house.
