Drunk Driver Caused 3-Car Crash In Sparta: Cops

No one was injured in Route 517 incident, police report.

SPARTA TWP., N.J. – A Sparta Township woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated after causing a three-car crash earlier this month, Sgt. Dennis Proctor said.

On May 3 at 6 p.m., police responded to the crash on Route 517 in the area of Station Road. Cpl. Kurt Morris spoke with the driver that caused the crash, identified as Dawn Brown, 52, of Sparta, who said she looked down at her radio and didn’t see the stopped vehicles she crashed into, Proctor said.

While speaking with Brown, Morris believed the driver to possibly under the influence of alcohol, Proctor said. Due to the dangerous location of the crash, Morris took Brown to police headquarters to conduct field sobriety tests, which she later failed.

Brown was placed under arrest and issued a summons for driving while intoxicated and careless driving. She was released several hours later to a sober adult.

No one involved in the crash sustained any injuries.
