Elizabethtown Grants Go To Sussex Co. First Responder Agencies
There was $52,000 in awards given to 12 departments statewide, with nearly half in Sussex County. Find out which ones received them.
SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ — A number of first responder agencies in Sussex County were given grants from Elizabethtown Gas, through a new program.
The inaugural First Responders Grant Program gave monies to departments for training, operations and safety, according to a news release from the company.

In Sussex County, entities that received 2021 First Responder Grants were: Byram Township Fire Department, Green Township Fire Department, Lafayette Township Fire Department, Sussex County Sheriff’s Office and Wantage Township Fire Department.
“The Elizabethtown Gas First Responders Grant Program enables our company to give back to organizations whose continued efforts keeps our customers and communities safe,” President and COO Christie McMullen said in a news release about the program.

“As we come into the holiday season, we are proud to partner with this year’s winners to support their work and future initiatives,” she added.
This year’s grants will go to purchase items including gas detection meters, fire hoses, medical equipment and communications equipment.
Other departments outside of Sussex County that were given grants were: Cranford Township Fire Department, Elizabeth Fire Department, Independence Township Volunteer Fire Department, Metuchen Police Department, Perth Amboy Police Department, Rahway Fire Department and Union County’s Union Township Fire Department.
