Hopatcong Police Host ‘Merry Meals' Community Dinner

In need of a hot, holiday meal? Find out more about the dinner being served up at the Defiance Co. #3 Firehouse on Dec. 23.

HOPATCONG, NJ — Residents from Hopatcong, as well as Stanhope, Byram and Netcong, are invited to the table if they’re in need of a hot meal on Thursday, Dec. 23.

The Hopatcong Borough Police Department is coordinating the event, happening at the Defiance Co. #3 Firehouse on 43 Hopatchung Road, the firehouse in the center of town, from 6 to 9 p.m.

For people who would like a meal but can’t come in person for any reason, the police department will also coordinate food deliveries, they say.

Hopatcong’s Police Department, with the help of volunteers, served up 125 hot meals for Thanksgiving on Nov. 25.

Among the volunteers and donors that day were the Hangley Family, the Wolff Family, Hopatcong Ambulance Squad, Defiance Fire Co. #3, Pepsi Beverages Company (East Hanover, NJ), the Grotto Italian Restaurant, E and T Deli. Knot Just Pizza, Ronetco Shop Rite Inc., Councilwoman Jennifer Johnson, the Kondreck Family and the Crimando Family, the police department said.

Hopatcong Police say the meal giveaway event that’s coming up on Dec. 23 is similar to the one they did for Thanksgiving, acknowledging resident Steve Selvaggio for his donation of four hams for the upcoming Merry Meals event.
