Man Sleeping In Sparta Glen In His Car Charged With DWI: Police

Sparta Police charged Ryan Bode, 42, of Branchville, with DWI and for having an open container in his car.

SPARTA, NJ — A Branchville man was recently charged with DWI after a Sparta Police officer, locking up the Sparta Glen for the night, said he found the man sleeping in his driver’s seat.

Lt. John Lamon, a spokesperson for the Sparta Township Police Department said as the responding officer was locking up the park at about 10 p.m. on Nov. 30, he saw a black pickup truck parked in an unpaved section of the Glen.

The officer reportedly spotted an open can of beer in the vehicle, as the man slept in the driver’s seat, Lamon said.

Ryan Bode, 42, was charged after taking field sobriety tests, said Lamon, with DWI, drinking alcohol in a car, having an open container in his car, not notifying DMV of an address change and for not carrying a valid registration.
