'Promising Leads' Develop in Roxbury Human Remains Discovery

Roxbury Police and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office continue probe at the old Hercules munitions plant.

The investigation into the discovery of human remains Wednesday at the old Hercules site in Roxbury is ongoing, but officials said there have been some new developments in the case.

"As of this time, information has been uncovered and promising leads have been developed which are being followed," according to a press release issued late Thursday by Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Roxbury Police Chief James Simonetti.

The remains were discovered in an area off Route 46 and Hercules Road near where authorities have set up a staging area to process the crime scene. The area appears to be in a field behind a home near that intersection, according to a NJ.com report.

"Law enforcement agencies are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the remains," officials said, adding that additional details on the remains will be issued as they are confirmed.
