Parents Hindered Missing Daughter's Arrest, Cops Say
Authorities say 19-year-old was wanted on a warrant, parents told police she wasn't home after she had returned from being missing.

A Hopatcong woman who was wanted on an outstanding warrant was reported missing by her parents, but when she returned home the parents led authorities to believe she was not there, said.
Cheryl Semiz, 19, was reported missing on Aug. 30 by her parents, Thomas and Margaret Semiz, police said.
According to police, her parents reported that earlier in the day Cheryl Semiz agreed to have her father bring her to the Sussex County Sheriff's department to turn herself in on an outstanding arrest warrant. They said that at 11:30 a.m., Thoma Semiz went to her room, but his daughter was not there, according to police.

Police said that over the course of the next few days, police and the parents made extensive steps to locate Cheryl Semiz.
Police said that on Tuesday they received a tip to check Thomas Semiz's Facebook page, where he had written that his daughter was now home. Police said they went to the family's house, where Thomas Semiz said his daughter was not there and he had not seen her.

When asked if they could search the house, Thomas Semiz refused to let the officer inside, according to police. Police said they then left the home, but waited nearby. About a half-hour later, Thomas and Cheryl Semiz came out of the house, according to police.
Police said they ordered both to the ground, but they would not comply. Police said Cheryl Semiz attempted to pull away from police. Margaret Semiz then came out of the house, where she was ordered to go back inside, police said. According to police, she did go back inside, but then came out again and confronted authorities. Margaret Semiz was told she was under arrest, but pulled away from officers before she was subsequently arrested, police said.
Cheryl Semiz was charged with hindering her own apprehension, obstruction, and resisting arrest, according to police. She was later picked up by the Sussex County Sheriff's Department in relation to the outstanding warrant, police said.
Thomas and Margaret Semiz were charged with hindering the apprehension of another, obstruction, and resisting arrest, police said. Thomas Semiz was later released, and Margaret Semiz was taken to the hospital to examine an injured shoulder, police said.
