Sparta Man Flips Car, Escapes Serious Injury

Motorist cited for careless driving after incident on Sawmill Road.

Two Sussex County suffered only minor injuries after crawling from a car that flipped twice.

Andrew S. Celeste, 22, of Sparta was cited for careless driving after a one-vehicle accident on Sawmill Road Monday afternoon, Sgt. John-Paul Beebe said.

Celeste was driving his 2001 Toyota Camry with passenger Jeffrey C. Ryan, 25, of Lafayette and lost control as he rounded a turn, Beebe said. Celeste tried to regain control but overcompensated and left the roadway, hitting an embankment, Beebe said. The Camry rolled over twice before coming to rest on its roof.

Celeste and Ryan were able to crawl out of the car on their own power. They were transported to Newton Medical Center where they were treated for minor scrapes and bruises, Beebe said.

The accident cleanup closed Sawmill Road for an hour.
