Sunflowers Abound in Sussex County

More than a million sunflowers were in full bloom in Augusta this weekend, younger planted ones facing the sky and older, larger flowers pointing down.

The huge flower display—one of the largest crops of sunflowers on the East Coast—was open to visitors Saturday and Sunday as the sun glistened down for the first weekend in September.

The sunflowers are arranged in a roughly 3-mile maze for visitors to walk through, photographing and posing next to. The maze spells out the words "We Are Jersey Grown."

The maze, on Route 565, will be open to visitors (and even dogs) through September.
