NJ Son Guilty Of Killing Father With Pole Saw On Christmas Eve
The conviction comes just days before the two-year anniversary of the "heinous" murder.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A Morris County man has been convicted of murdering his father by inflicting fatal injuries with a saw on Christmas Eve 2023. Kyle Meyer, 35, of Boonton Township, was found guilty of murdering his father, as well as other weapons charges.
On Dec. 24, 2023, around 1:15 p.m., police were called to a home on Old Denville Road in Boonton Township to find Gregory Meyer, 61, dead.
Investigators concluded that Gregory Meyer bled out due to injuries to his left leg, head, fingers, and hands inflicted by a battery-operated pole saw.

"A large amount of blood was observed in the basement. Blood was also observed leading from the basement, up the basement staircase, and into the bedroom maintained by Meyer within the residence," a probable cause affidavit said.
An investigation pointed to Gregory's son, who was 33 at the time, as being responsible for the killing.

Kyle Meyer, whose relatives say suffered from mental illness, alcoholism, and drug addiction for many years, was found and arrested in Paterson around 9 p.m. that night. Officials said he appeared in good health with no visible injuries on his body when he was apprehended.
Kyle Meyer refused to cooperate with police and was eventually charged with first-degree murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 6. He faces up to life in prison for the murder conviction alone.
