Tulsa Trail Second Graders Take Make-Believe Global Tours for the Holidays
The exercise was part of the students' explorations in the Culture and Diversity curriculum unit.

Tulsa Trail Elementary School second graders learned about diverse ways to celebrate this special season in a “Holidays Around the World” exercise Dec. 13, said Superintendent of Schools Cynthia Randina.
The goal of the make-believe journey was to teach the kids the holiday traditions of different countries by giving them the opportunity to "travel" to Italy, Sweden, England, Mexico, Russia and France.
Before traveling, each student prepared his or her luggage and created their very own passport, Randina explained. As the children entered each country, each had their “official” passport stamped, used a map key to identify the country on a map and received information about holiday customs of that country.
The superintendent called the activity, which is part of their Culture and Diversity social studies unit "a fun-filled afternoon for all who participated."
