Driver Struck By Fallen Tree On NJ Highway, Police Say

A driver was seriously injured when their car was hit by a falling tree on Route 29 in Mercer County Tuesday morning, authorities said.

HOPEWELL, NJ - A driver was seriously injured when their car was hit by a falling tree on Route 29 in Mercer County Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The crash took place at around 8:16 a.m. near Fiddlers Creek Road, police said. The driver was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment.

An initial investigation found that the vehicle was traveling southbound on Route 29 south of Fiddlers Creek Road when a tree fell onto the roof of the vehicle, police said.

The crash is being investigated by Officer George Peterson and Detective Chris Collins
of the Hopewell Township Police Department, as well as the Mercer County
Prosecutor’s Office.

Route 29 was closed between Church Road and Fiddlers Creek Road due to the investigation and roadway cleanup. The crash remains under investigation.
