2 Councilmen Among 4 Mayoral Candidates In Howell 2024 Election Race

HOWELL, NJ — Three Republicans, including two current council members, have filed candidates' petitions for mayor of Howell for the 2024 election.

Ian Nadel, the current deputy mayor, and Fred Gasior both filed petitions seeking to replace Theresa Berger, who is not seeking re-election. They are joined by John Leggio in seeking the Republican nomination during the June 4 primary.

Democrat Matthew Filosa also filed a petition for mayor. He is unchallenged in the Democratic primary.

Republican Evelyn O'Donnell, who is running with Gasior, is seeking re-election to her council seat. Democrat Rebecca Scott also is seeking the council seat.

Nadel and Gasior both are listed as running for mayor on the Monmouth County Republican Organization ticket. Their council terms end Dec. 31, 2026.

Leggio is running on the No Strings Attached slogan. He serves on the Howell Planning Board.

Berger, a Democrat, has served two terms as mayor.
