Get Into Kayaking With Two New Launches At Lakes In Howell

Kayak launches have recently been installed at Echo Lake and Sparrow Lake in Howell.

HOWELL, NJ — The township recently added two kayak launches, one at Alfred C. Sauer Park at Echo Lake and one at Sparrow Lake, for residents' recreation.

This is in addition to the existing kayak launch located at Aldrich Lake off Addison Road.

Echo Lake is at 1225 Maxim-Southard Road and Sparrow Lake is to the rear of Deerwood Park at 2740 Lakewood-Allenwood Road. Learn more about the lakes at the township website.

The launches add to the enjoyment of the lakes, but there are safety rules to follow.

The township says watercraft used on Howell’s lakes must be “car top” size, and propelled by paddle, peddle or electric motors. No internal combustion-powered craft are allowed.

When using watercraft on Howell’s lakes you must wear a U.S. Coast Guard Approved Life Preserver, regardless of age.
