Howell Tax Bills Delayed Due To Mail Error, Officials Say
The grace period has been pushed back to allow time for payments due to the mail error, township officials said.

HOWELL, NJ - Howell residents will have to wait a bit longer for their tax bills this year due to a mail processing error, officials said.
"Please be advised due to a mail processing error, out of the Township’s control, the receipt of the tax bills will be delayed,” the township wrote in a statement.
“We anticipate tax bills to be delivered approximately Monday, August 7, 2023 or soon thereafter. The grace period has been pushed back to September 8, 2023 to allow time for payments to be made.”

Last year, the delay was blamed on fiscal budget debates, which impacted other state and county agencies down the line, Howell Chief Financial Officer Louis Palazzo told Patch.

In Howell, tax bills are printed and mailed in-house by the tax office staff, with help from other town employees, with 20,000 envelopes printed, stuffed and stamped during each cycle, he said.
