Howell Teen Seriously Injured In One-Car Crash After Avoiding Deer
A Howell youth, age 18, was in stable condition Tuesday after he was injured in a one-car crash into a tree on Monday, police said.
HOWELL, NJ — A teenage driver was in stable condition after a serious one-car collision on Monday, in which he may have been avoiding a deer, police here said.
At about 11:20 p.m. on Monday, May 8, an 18-year-old youth from Howell, driving a gray Honda CR-V, was traveling on Eagle Drive in the area of Woodpecker Road when he ran off the road to the left and collided with a tree, police said.
The impact with the tree was "significant and caused serious bodily injury to the operator of the CR-V," Det. Sgt. Peter Kuppler said in a news statement.

There was a "heavy emergency response" from the Howell Township Police Department and Emergency Medical Services.
The youth was taken to an area hospital where he is currently in stable condition, according to police.

Based on the crash investigation, it is believed that the youth was attempting to avoid a deer that ran into the roadway in front of his vehicle.
No summonses have been issued as of this time, and the investigation by police is ongoing.
