Man Killed In Route 9 Crash In Howell Identified

Authorities released the name of the man who died Saturday night.

HOWELL, NJ — A Howell Township man who was killed Saturday night on Route 9 has been identified.

Frank Santomauro, 71, died at the scene of the crash that happened near the Strickland Road intersection, the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said Tuesday.

Santomauro was hit by a 2016 Honda CRV just before 7:45 p.m. Saturday. The SUV was driven by a 58-year-old Howell man, the prosecutor's office said. The driver remained at the scene, and his name was not released, authorities said.

No summonses have been issued, the prosecutor's office said.
