Motorcyclist Injured Following Saturday Crash

Freehold resident cited for improper left turn.

A Howell resident riding his motorcycle on Elton Adelphia Road escaped serious injury when the motorcycle he was riding on was hit on Saturday Afternoon.

Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd of the Howell Police Department reported 50-year-old Jonathan Thomas was driving east on his 2011 Harley Davidson when he was hit by a 2000 Hyundai Accent driven by 79-year-old Freehold resident Joan Lamirande.

Dodd said the accident happened when Lamirande crossed into Thomas’ lane while making a left turn and ejected him from the bike. Lamirande reported she was making a left into a driveway and never saw Thomas coming. As a result of the accident she was cited for making an improper left turn.

Thomas sustained an injury to his right hand and complained of head and back pain as well as pain on his right leg just above the knee according to Dodd. He was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by the Howell Police EMS Unit.

The accident is being investigated by Ptl. Scott Brooks.
