Pedestrian Hit, Critically Injured On Route 9 In Howell

The Lakewood woman was hit near the intersection with Lanes Mill Road, authorities said.

HOWELL, NJ — A 45-year-old woman from Lakewood suffered life-threatening injuries Tuesday evening when she was hit by a vehicle on Route 9, the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said Thursday.

The woman, whose name was not released, was hit near the intersection with Lanes Mill Road at 5:17 p.m., the prosecutor's office said.

The female driver — the prosecutor's office did not release her age or hometown — was driving north on Route 9 in the left lane when she hit the pedestrian. Authorities did not say what kind of vehicle she was driving but said she stayed at the scene, authorities said.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital and is being treated for her injuries, the prosecutor's office said.

No charges or summonses have been issued so far, the prosecutor's office said, but the investigation by the prosecutor's office, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and the Howell Township Police Department is continuing.
