Pedestrian Hit, Killed On Route 9 In Howell

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said the man, a Howell resident, died at the scene of the crash.

HOWELL, NJ — A Howell Township man was killed Saturday night when he was hit by a vehicle on Route 9, authorities said Monday.

The 71-year-old man's name was not released.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said the man was hit just before 7:45 p.m. near the intersection with Strickland Road, and he died at the scene.

He was hit by a 2016 Honda CRV driven by a 58-year-old Howell man, the prosecutor's office said. The driver remained at the scene, authorities said.

No summonses have been issued at this time, the prosecutor's office said.
