Water Main Replacements Disrupting Howell Roads

The work is anticipated to take about two months, the water company said.

HOWELL, NJ — Water main replacement is underway on several roads in Howell Township by New Jersey American Water, meaning there will be traffic disruptions.

The water mains on Burdge Drive, Pine Road, Hemlock Road, Locust Road, and Spruce Road will be replaced over the next two months, Howell officials said.

Work is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. each day during the week. School buses and emergency vehicles will have access throughout the project.

Once the water main replacement work is completed, the roads will be repaved curb to curb in the fall, officials said.

New Jersey American Water has been replacing aging 8-inch transite water main that was installed in the 1970s with 8-inch ductile iron main in the township for the last few years.
