A Patch Refresher Course

Here are five things you can do, right here on Patch.

For all of you who have been faithful followers of Patch in our almost five months of existence, consider this a refresher course on what you can do here on the site. If you’re new to the site, this will give you some ideas on where to go next.

  1.  You Can Comment on Stories: At the end of each story there exists an area for you to click to leave comments on what you’ve read. Do you have a shout-out for something or someone mentioned in the story? Do you agree or disagree? Let us know. There’s nothing like healthy dialogue to get the blood flowing.
  2.  You Can Find Out About Events: Are you looking for something to do in town on the weekend? Do you need to know when the next school board meeting is? Click on the “Event” tab, choose the category you want, and you’ll get the information you need. And, if you’re signed up as a Patch user, you can post events for your organization as well. Just click on the “Create an Event” tab at the bottom of the event page and fill in the necessary information.
  3.  You Can Ask or Answer a Question: Just click on the “Q&A” tab to find questions that have already been submitted. If you know the answer, help a neighbor out. If you have a question, that is the place to post it.
  4.  You Can Make an Announcement: Did you just become a parent or a grandparent? Did your child make honor roll or graduate from college? Is your cat lost? Did you just get promoted at work? Let Jefferson know. If you’re a Patch user, you can click on the “Create” tab at the bottom of the announcement page to create your copy. Or you can send the information to me at susan.toth@patch.com and I will post your announcement for you.
  5.  You Can Find Out About Local Businesses: Looking for a restaurant? Or maybe where the nearest pharmacy is? Need to know where to find a place of worship? Patch Places is where to look. You can browse the Places by categories to find just what you’re looking for. If you own a business listed in Places, you can claim it as well.

We hope you’re enjoying Jefferson Patch. As always, please feel free to continue to let me know what you like or don’t like, and what you’d like to see covered on the site.
