Itβs no secret that the economic downturn has hit many people very hard. Lack of employment has been a major issue, and unemployment has become a staple in many New Jersey households.
But, according to a story on nj.com, more than 26,000 New Jerseyans could have unemployment benefits taken away, and the same prospect is a possibility for more than 100,000 residents by the end of the year. It has to do with a glitch in a federal law called the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act. The law extends federal unemployment benefits, but only until Dec. 29, unless Congress votes to extend the program.
