Catholic Charities Agency Dedicates New Pavilion in Oak Ridge

The Department for Persons with Disabilities celebrated last Sunday as it dedicated the new Lou Tatti Pavilion at Wiegand Farm in Oak Ridge.

The new facility, which will serve the Catholic Charities agency's developmentally and intellectually disabled clients, held a ceremony to christen the building, which includes a gazebo donated by Lake Hopatcong residents Jason and Rosa Piegaro.  

DPD provides care and services for its target audience throughout New Jersey. In Jefferso Township, the agency operates three group homes and its vocational day program. 

Tatti was the first director of Murray House, New Jersey's longest running group home for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities in . Murray House opened in Paterson in 1971 and moved to Clifton in 1994. It now provides a home for three men and three women with special needs.

“It was a nice surprise to receive the gazebo from a generous couple in Jefferson," said DPD spokesperson Christopher Brancato."The new pavilion will be used for years to come by the residents of DPD." 

Brancato added praise for the man whose name graces the new building.  

"Lou is a kind and caring individual who has been a part of our agency for over 45 years," he said. "We are honored to call him a friend and to name this beautiful gift, the ‘Lou Tatti Pavilion.’"
