Deceased Teacher Remembered as Science Buff, Big Giants Fan

Roseann Krygier was a huge New York Giants fan, and she made sure everyone around her knew it. The science teacher, who , “had a very serious side when it came to the Giants,” according to Lynda Molenhoff, a colleague and friend.

“I know that when Mrs. Krygier followed the Giants, we all followed the Giants,” high school principal Karl Mundi said.

She was also a fan of science, and loved teaching it, according to colleagues.

“I can still remember the enthusiasm she exuded when she felt an earthquake rattle through NJ. This is just one example of her true love for Earth science,” said current high school assistant principal Vickki Nadler, who was the science department chairwoman at the high school during Krygier’s tenure.

Molenhoff also recalled working with Krygier for four years at the high school.

“One year we shared the same lunch period,” Molenhoff said. “She had a great sense of humor.”

Krygier and Molenhoff were also pregnant at the same time in 2007, with their sons being born just a couple of months apart.

“We used to compare progress on our pregnancies,” Molenhoff recalled.

The two also shared a love of Long Beach Island, and spent time there last summer with another teacher, Phyllis Smith, just before Hurricane Irene hit.

“Our four sons spent an afternoon together that I’ll not forget,” Molenhoff said.

Past student Brian Ubhaus recalled Krygier’s teaching technique.

“She made class as fun as it could be,” he said.  “She was just a great person.”

Fellow teachers also recalled her teaching expertise.

“I will always remember her enthusiasm when it came to teaching and the New York Giants,” said fellow high school teacher Steve Barbato. “She was a wonderful woman and will be missed by the whole Falcon family.”

Not only was she a teacher but a great help to her students, according to fellow teachers.

As a mentor and role model she touched the lives of many students,” Nadler said. “She was there to listen to her students and guide them through high school. She was a calming force who lead with a gentle grace, a caring person who always had an optimistic outlook on life.”

“Knowing RoseAnn is resting peacefully with God will allow us time to find our own peace as we grieve her loss,” Barbato added.

“She fought a hard battle and did everything possible to be there for her family and students.  I hope her son Garrett will grow up knowing how great his mom was in so many ways,” Molenhoff said.

A memorial visitation will he held Thursday at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph, from 2 - 4 p.m. The Memorial Service will follow at 4 p.m. A memorial mass will be held Saturday at the Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption in Roselle Park at noon (908-245-1107).
