Drunk Burglar Caught By Homeowners, Police Say
Township man allegedly was going through their possessions.

Nolan's Point Road homeowners were awakened Wednesday night by strange noises that turned out to be a drunk man going through their possessions, police said.
Jefferson Township policeΒ said the homeowners foundΒ Mark Wenrich, 40, of Jefferson Township, inside their residence sitting on the floor in a spare bedroom of the house going through a jewelry/make-up box.Β Wenrich appeared to be intoxicated, police said.Β
Police said the homeowners escorted Wenrich from the residence and placed a call to authorities.Β

Several hours later, Wenrich came out from a wooded area off Nolanβs Point Road, police said. At that point, he was arrested and charged with burglary and criminal mischief and later transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail, police said.
Nothing appeared to be missing from the home, police said.

Along with Jefferson police, the Morris County Sheriffβs Crime Scene Unit and K-9 responded to the residence.
