Five Things You Missed at the Board of Education Meeting

If you missed the board of education's reorganization meeting, here's what you need to know.

Did you miss Monday night’s school board meeting? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Here are five things that happened:

  1. You Need to Know About the New Board Members: Frank Cuccio, Stacey Poulas and Ron Smith were sworn in as the newest members of the Board of Education.
  2. You Need to Know About Elections: One of the new members, Ron Smith, was elected as president of the board.  Second-year member Matt Millar was elected vice president. The two unseat Cynthia Scott and Robert Feldmann, respectively.
  3. You Need to Know About These Reappointments: A long list of tenured and non-tenured teachers and staff members were reinstated at Monday’s meeting. For a complete list, click here.
  4. You Need to Know About This Resignation: The board accepted the resignation of Dr. Gale Ferraro, director of special services, effective July 1.
  5. You Need to Know About These Retirements: Chemistry teacher Howard Pollison, White Rock teacher Dorothy Sabarese and high school hall monitor Frank McBride will retire, all effective July 1. Pollison had 26 years of service, McBride 10 and Sabarese eight.
