Why Go: Because you want to learn about volunteer opportunities at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey.
Pricing: Free.

Where/When: 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the  in Morris Township, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Why Go: Because this Tony Award-nominated comedy tells the story of an actor who seemingly has it all, but when his hit television series is cancelled and he finds himself playing Hamlet, a role he hates, his situation takes a turn for the worse.
Pricing: $40 for adults; $36 for senior citizens; $33 for museum members; $20 for students.

Why Go: Because “Rabbit Hole,” an Oscar nominated film, will be shown. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Why Go: Because for $18 adults can get sandwiches, refreshments and one sheet of small prize tickets. Wine and beer will also be available.

Why Go: This beefsteak dinner with wine, beer, soft drinks and videocast horse racing will raise funds to support the Morris Plains Rotary’s charities.

Why Go: Because you want to hear CCM’s chamber choir sing musical theater favorites, accompanied by the department’s faculty and presented by the music and dance and performing arts departments.

Why Go: Because author of “A German Life: Against All Odds, Change is Possible,” Bernd Wollschlager, a convert to Judaism and the son of a high-ranking Nazi official, will present the temple’s annual Joseph Gotthelf Holocaust Memorial Lecture.

Why Go: Because you’re a fan of “Clerks,” “Dogma,” “Mallrats” or any of Smith’s films, and you want to participate in a Q&A session with the director.
Pricing: Ranges from $42 to $89 and tickets are available online.

Where/When: From 12 to 4 p.m. at the  on Saturday, April 30.
Why Go: Because proceeds will benefit Delaney Brown, a child who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Two months ago she showed no more signs of the disease--but she is still under a doctor’s care and needs injections to fight the disease.
Pricing: $5 per person.

Where/When: Beginning at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 at the .
Why Go: Because you want to see Hillman perform such hits as “Turn Turn Turn,” “Mister Tambourine Man,” or “Eight Miles High.” Barnaby Bright will open.

Where/When: At 8 a.m. at  on Sunday, May 1.
Why Go: Because this March of Dimes-sponsored event will help fund research and create support programs for soon-to-be mothers.

Why Go: To arm yourself and your child against bullying with information and prevention.

GRAB & GO KIDS PLANNER

Where/When: At the main branch of the  from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 28.
Why Go: Because families can learn about how mood relates to diabetes, as well as learn a relaxation activity meant to reduce stress.
Pricing: Free

Where/When: From 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the  on Thursday, April 28.
Why Go: Because children of all ages can stop by anytime during the workshop to design a dinosaur. Two days later the museum will host Dino Day.
Pricing: $5 per child.

Where/When: From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the  on Thursday, April 28.
Why Go: Because children ages two through eight, as long as they bring a responsible adult, can join in on the race.
Pricing: $20 per vehicle.

Where/When: From 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 28 at  in Hopatcong.
Why Go: Because students of all ages and or skill levels can learn self defense with a combination of martial arts. Visitors are also welcome.

Where/When:  on 47 Legion Rd. in Oak Ridge from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 29.
Why Go: Because Sonny’s on the Lake will cater, and this week chicken marsala or baked fish with pasta and salads will be served. This is a chance to meet local veterans and see what the legion does.
Pricing: $15 for adults; $7 for children seven to 12 years old; free for children 6 or younger.

Where/When: From 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Fridays at  in Glasser.
Why Go: Because families can sing karaoke with Kip at this lakeside restaurant.
Pricing: Free.

Why Go: Because children can create a dinosaur puppet, learn from a paleontologist, make a fossil footprint rubbing, or explore a dinosaur nest.

Why Go: Because all ages can enjoy live animal shows, food, live music, nature walks, games and crafts while learning about the environment and celebrating Earth Day.

Why Go: Children five or older can learn about dinosaur names by playing the name game, as a part of the museum’s Dino Day.

Pricing: $5 per child for the Egg Hunt. The parade is free.

Why Go: It's a unique community festival with free pony rides, hayrides, games, music and family fun. Sparkee, the Somerset Patriots mascot, will be there too!

Why Go: To grab the stroller and enjoy the emergence of spring along the trails of the park.
