Investigation into Jefferson High VP Currie Continues

Jefferson High School vice principal Gregory Currie was suspended by the district in late February, and that suspension continues as the investigation into his alleged misconduct continues.

Currie has been suspended with pay according to the district’s legal obligation, said superintendent Dr. Kathaleen Fuchs.

“Mr. Currie’s suspension continues as the investigation continues,” Fuchs said. “No decision has been made yet regarding the future.”

Fuchs could not provide any information regarding the circumstances surrounding Currie’s suspension, saying only that it is a personnel matter and therefore cannot be discussed.

Noreen Risko is serving as a substitute vice principal in Currie’s absence.

“She is an experienced administrator, and is working with Mr. Mundi (principal) and Mr. Cinotti (vice principal) to ensure that the school runs smoothly,” Fuchs said.

In addition to the unknown circumstances surrounding Currie’s future, the district also accepted the retirement of 39-year veteran vice principal John Cinotti. His retirement date is Aug. 31.

“The retirement of Mr. Cinotti is a tremendous loss to the district. He will be greatly missed by students and staff,” Fuchs said.

“Having time to look for a replacement is an advantage and we have already begun to advertise. I am pleased to report there has been good response so far,” she said. “If the pool of candidates is a deep one, I am confident that we can find someone to fill Mr. Cinotti’s ‘very big shoes’.”
