Jefferson Police To Take Back Drugs on Saturday

Residents can drop off unwanted prescription medications.

Jefferson Police will sponsor a Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the municipal building. This will give residents the opportunity to safely dispose of accumulate unused, unwanted prescription medication, police said.

The result of the last four take-back days combined netted a total of 1.5 million pounds of drugs being removed from circulation in the United States and its territories, according to Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) statistics.

Jefferson police will take the drugs they received to the Morris County Police Academy on Monday, where they will be weighed and incinerated.
