Mary Azukas will join the as the new supervisor of Fine and Related Arts and Social Studies. She will start on Aug. 20. She replaces Mark Schwartz, who left the district for another position.
Azukas comes to Jefferson from the New York City school district, where she was in the office of innovation as the director of curriculum.
“I’m looking forward to having a connection with the kids, and watching them progress through their school years,” Azukas said. “It’s hard to do that in a district with about a million students.”

Azukas also taught at the University of Central Florida. She is a graduate of Penn State University. She resides in Maplewood.
