Lake Cleanup News, Last Chance for PTA Class Party Signups
Your daily planner for Jefferson Township includes a high school pinball night and a paint-by-numbers lesson in using pastels at the local library.

Here's what you need to know for Wednesday.
- The community cleanup of Lake Hopatcong is coming Nov. 9, and the Lake Hopatcong Foundation is working to arrange for removal of lake debris stuck in the lake bottom, which can be accessed from the shoreline thanks to the drawdown that began last month. Lake property owners who know of debris are asked to fill out a form on the LHF website to report its presence. The forms will go to the Hopatcong Department of Public Works so that the debris can be removed. Owners may also dispose of lake debris—not vegetative waste—in dumpsters at select locations in the borough. Get more info by calling the foundation at TK. And volunteers and team leaders for the Nov. 9 are still needed: Sign up here.
- Jefferson parents and teachers will gather for the second Milton Tri-School PTA Meeting of the 2013-14 school year Wednesday evening. The event will offer parents' final opportunity to sign up for PTA class party events, and organizers say you must be present to sign up. Expect discussion as well on Red Ribbon Week, which through Friday puts a special focus on teaching kids to saying no toavoid alcohol and drugs. The gathering takes place at 7 p.m. in the all-purpose room at Cozy Lake School, 205 Cozy Lake Road in Oak Ridge.
- Can your high schooler play a mean pinball? Is he or she the Bally table king or queen? Let your teenager show her or his flipper skills at Jefferson Township High School's Pinball Night, Wednesday at 6 p.m. JTHS is at 1010 Weldon Road, and the event will be held in the Freedom Gym.
- If you've ever wanted to try painting with pastels, Wednesday is your night. The Jefferson Township Public Library presents "Art Class: Pastel Painting" from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The class will help participants create a completed pastel painting using step-by-step instructions from painter Doris Schwint. Supplies are provided, and pre-registration is a must because space is limited. The library is at 1031 Weldon Road. Call 973-208-6244 for info.
