Liquor Factory Features Beer Growlers

Route 15 store is the only one in the area offering unique draught beer system.

In the world of beer, growlers are not loud animals. They are half-gallon jugs of draught beer. And now, rather than having to travel to a microbrewery to find them, growlers can be found right here in Jefferson Township at on Route 15β€”and they can be filled with any of a selection of unique beers, according to the store’s owners, brothers Bill and Bob Tobin.

The Liquor Factory uses the Pegas system to fill the growlers, which involves filling the jug with carbon dioxide and then with beer.

β€œIt gives more shelf life to the beer, and keeps it fresher for longer,” Bob Tobin said. β€œThis is a state-of-the-art system we’re using. We’ve taken serving beer to the next level.”

Currently the Liquor Factory offers Newcastle, Allagash, Southhamption, Honker’s Ale, Beach Haus, Ramstein, Summer and Woody Creek White on tap for growlers. The beers will be switched out every two weeks. Some upcoming choices include Sam Adams Specialty, Climax Scholar, Uinta Bubhe Black, Flying Dog Underdog, A Pig’s Tale Ale, Anderson IPA and Long Trail Double White.

β€œWe started with only four taps, but we quickly grew to eight because it was so popular,” Bill Tobin said. β€œWe offer selections of beer that you can’t find in a six-pack.”

The store is celebrating its twentieth anniversary in Jefferson with the new system and a new location, only a few doors down from the old one. It’s a bigger location, allowing the store to β€œgrow with the times,” said Bob Tobin.

Along with the Pegas system, growth at the new digs has come in the form of 10 additional coolers.

β€œWe went from 14 coolers to 24,” Bill Tobin said. β€œThe additional space allows us to offer much more product.”

The Liquor Factory will also host tastings over the summer. The schedule includes Ceci Bella Wine and Cayman Jack margaritas on June 29 from 4 – 7 p.m.; Apothic red and white wine on June 30 from 1 – 4 p.m.; adult limeade and chocolate on July 3 from 4 – 6 p.m. and Oyster Bay wine on July 7 from 3 – 6 p.m.
