The helicopter contains a radar that allows the pilot to see the weather at least 200 miles ahead of where it is traveling, and a radio for pilots to communicate with the trauma center to which they are heading.
According to Raffino, it takes about eight minutes for the helicopter to get from Jefferson Township to Morristown Medical Center. It can travel at a speed of up to 135 knots, or 150 miles per hour.
