New Member Appointed to Municipal Alliance

Rev. Ellen Bechtold was appointed to the Municipal Alliance at the Jefferson Township Council meeting Wednesday night.

Bechtold, who was sworn in by Mayor Russell Felter and Municipal Alliance chairwoman Kristine Wilsusen, will complete an unexpired two-year term until Dec. 31, 2013.

Originally called the Drug Abuse Council, The Municipal Alliance was formed in the township in 1970 to address concerns of local kids using drugs and alcohol.

Members are appointed by the mayor, and include representatives from the governing body, education, health, law encforcement, civic, religious and business backgrounds.
