
Raymond R. Polakoski passed away on Aug. 11 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He was 91.
Born and raised in Jersey City, he moved to the Lake Hopatcong section of Jefferson Township in 1981.
Ray retired from the Jersey City Police Department as Lieutenant in 1981 after 33 years.

He was a WW II Army Veteran and was awarded the American Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Ray was a life member of American Legion Post 245, Lake Hopatcong and was Past Commander and served as Chaplain and Adjutant.
He was a parishioner of Star of the Sea Church, Lake Hopatcong, a member of the Wharton F. O. P. Lodge 24 and served on the board of the East Shore Property Home Owners Association.

Ray was a avid Yankee fan.
Pre-deceased by his wife Anne Marie (Fahey) in 1994 and his two brothers, Bernard and Carroll. He is survived by his two sons Raymond R. and his wife: Barbara of Halifax, VA andΒ Robert J. of Antigua, Guatemale.
He has four grandchildren, Marie, David, Kathleen and Lauren, and two great grandchildren, Liam and Carin
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3-5 Β and 7-9 p.m. at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St. Wharton. Funeral service will be held on Thursday 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to a 10 a.m. funeral mass at Star of the Sea Church, 204 Espanong Rd., Lake Hopatcong. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, N. Arlington, NJ.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory to Star of the Sea Church, PO BOX 337, Lake Hopatcong, NJ 07849 would be appreciated.
