Traveling on Berkshire Valley Road will be more of a smooth ride in the fall, after a resurfacing project is completed by Morris County.
βThe project originally included Berkshire Valley Road between Taylor Road and Solar Road, about 2.8 miles,β said Cliff Wolfe, chief of survey party for Morris County. βBut the project will probably be cut just about in half, as part of that surface isnβt in such bad shape, and we have other projects that are more in need of completion,β he said.
Plans have just started on this project, which Wolfe estimates will start in late summer or early fall. It still needs to go out for bid, he added.

The project consists of milling and resurfacing the road, which should take approximately 2-3 weeks, weather permitting, Wolfe said.
βThe milling part takes about six days, and then the resurfacing takes up the rest of the time. We will also be doing things like drainage repair,β he said.

Work is usually performed between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Wolfe said, but could sometimes continue a bit longer on some days.
βWe will adjust the time with the police in town,β Wolfe said. βThe specs usually call for 9 β 4, but if we can cut a whole day off the project by adding an hour or two here and there, we will do that. It will be easier to do that in the summer, because no school buses will be out.β
There will be delays on Berkshire Valley Road during the project, Wolfe said, but no complete closures of the road are planned.
βIβm not sure if this project calls for two lanes to be open at all times, or if there will be alternating lanes,β he said. βBut we will have police on hand to provide traffic control, and we will always provide advance notification to drivers when there may be delays.β
