Lake Hopatcong Donation, New Fire Alarms for Schools Top Local News

Saturday night's Evolution concert, a tribute to Journey, that was to be held at  was postponed due to a power outage at the high school. , according to Jefferson Office of Emergency Management (OEM) officials. 

NJ.com reports a Lake Hopatcong summer homeowner donated $100,000 to start the Lake Hopatcong Foundation, a nonprofit aimed at preserving the lake.

Chloe Scharf of Lake Hopatcong didn’t have to wait long for what it takes many actors years to achieve—her first award. Chloe won the Best Actor Award at the Manhattan Film Festival. She won the award for her role in “Nora,” a 15-minute film about a young girl with a terminal illness.

For 80 years,  in Lake Hopatcong has been serving its customers’ needs of bookbinding, restoration and repair of books. And to celebrate, customers will only pay 80 percent of the total cost of their repair, rebinding or restoration.

The celebration continues until Aug. 8, which is also the eightieth wedding anniversary of Turul’s founders.

The  awarded the bid for new fire alarms at ,  and  Schools to Alarm & Communication Technologies in Wharton. The $217,890 cost will cover new systems for all three schools, and will allow the district to own the rites to the software for the system.

Mary Azukas will join the  as the new supervisor of Fine and Related Arts and Social Studies. She will start on Aug. 20. She replaces Mark Schwartz, who left the district for another position.
