Tuesday Marks National Night Out

Festivities will take place at the municipal building.

The Jefferson Township police department will participate in the eighth annualΒ National Night Out Program sponsored by National Association of Town Watch on Tuesday from 6 - 9 p.m. at the Jefferson Township Municipal Building.Β 

The event is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and to strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community relations, police said.Β 

Jefferson Township Fire Co. Nos. 1 and 2 as well as the Milton First Aid Squad, Jefferson Rescue Squad and the Fire Prevention Bureau, Office of Emergency Management and Municipal Alliance for a Drug Free Community will be participating and will have equipment on display.

Police will provide a cook-out with hot dogs, soda and chips available as long as supplies last.

Crime prevention material, firearms and other displays will be available. The Police Departments Community Policing Unit and bicycle patrol officers will participate and hold tours of the police department.Β

The event is open to all residents. In addition, residents are encouraged to turn on any outside lights in support.
