Coaches Marc Gaydos and Jane Kirshenbaum are both science teachers at the high school, and suggested the fundraiser to honor one of their own.
“A lot of our players had Mrs. Krygier as a teacher and we wanted to give something back to the family,” Gaydos said. “The girls really appreciate all she did for the school while she was a teacher here. She sacrificed her time away from her family to make Jefferson one of the best places to go to school, even when she was in the last days of her own life.”

All of the girls will be wearing peach ribbons in their hair in honor of uterine cancer awareness, the disease that claimed Krygier's life.
The volleyball team’s record currently stands at 5-5 overall and 3-1 in their conference. The game against Morris Catholic is a conference game, so it’s a meaningful one for the team, Gaydos said.
