The Princeton-based Coalition for Peace Action (CFPA) will have a three-part Holiday Peace Gathering on Thursday, December 18 in Princeton.
The Gathering begins with a Candlelight Vigil for Peace on Earth from 5:00-6:00 PM on the sidewalk adjacent to Nassau Street in front of Palmer Square in Princeton. Ample battery powered candles will be available, as well as pre-printed posters for participants--but attendees are also welcome to bring their own.
A Potluck for Peace will follow the Vigil from 6:00-7:00 PM in the Assembly Room (enter at right rear of building) of Nassau Presbyterian Church, 61 Nassau Street in Princeton, directly across the street from Palmer Square. Those bringing dishes may drop them off at the church starting at 4:30. However, attendees are asked not to stay parked at the church afterwards, so it is available for the church’s programs.
Following the Potluck will be a Peace Program from 7:00-8:30 PM, also in the Assembly Room, which will feature Music for Peace presented by David Brahinsky and Friends. It will be a real treat for all who want to experience peaceful music in this Season of Peace.
Before our concert, there will be a brief presentation from the runners and youth organizers of The Movement for their 275 Miles of Resistance: Princeton Action Night. They are running from New York City to Washington DC to raise the alarm about rising climate costs and the communities paying the price. We'll learn more about what is in the Climate Superfund proposal -- the campaign to require major polluters to finally pay their share for the damage they have caused -- why it matters for New Jersey communities, and how you can take action to help make it real.
All three events—the Vigil, Potluck, and Program—are free and open to the public. Those interested are encouraged to come to any one or combination of the three events. RSVPs are requested to jnew@peacecoalition.org for planning purposes. Further information is at www.peacecoalition.org.
“We warmly welcome all those wanting to participate in any or all parts of this three-part Holiday Event, whether or not they are CFPA members or have previously attended our events. For the Program, we are pleased that such gifted musicians will present peaceful music, and encourage all interested people to join us. Music is the soul of the peace movement, so come and have your soul nourished,” said CFPA Executive Director, the Rev. Robert Moore.
