Lacey Crash Caused By Cell Phone Use: Police

Bayville woman flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center after accident.

One person was injured after her car rear-ended another at the intersection of Route 9 and Kearney Avenue recently, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

Megan Schleckser, 31, Brewster Place, Bayville, was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune after the 8:38 a.m. crash on Wednesday, the chief said.

Investigation determined the probable cause of the crash was her use of a cell phone while driving, police said.

Dianne Pedecini, 51, Jacqueline Court, Lanoka Harbor, was stopped at the intersection, waiting to make a right turn into the parking lot at 915 Lacey Road when she was hit from behind, the chief said.

Pedicini refused medical treatment, he said.

Schleckser was issued three summonses, the chief said.
