Lacey Police Charge Forked River Man With Drunk Driving After Crash

Paul T. Gerhauser backed his vehicle into two parked cars in Caffrey's parking lot, police chief says.

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Lacey police have charged a Forked River man who backed his vehicle into two parked cars with drunk driving, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

Officers Michael Baldasari and Julie Barcalow responded to Caffrey’s, located at 440 Route 9 South in Forked River, at 8:44 p.m. on May 30 on a report of a motor vehicle crash, the chief said.

The driver, Paul T. Gerhauser, 54, G Street in Forked River, reportedly backed his vehicle into two parked cars. He was arrested at the scene and taken to police headquarters, where he was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving and improper backing, DiBella said.

The vehicle he was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
