Incidents apparently happened during the overnight hours into the morning hours of May 30 into May 31, police say.

Some residents in the Barnegat Pines section of Forked River woke up to an unpleasant surprise Wednesday morning when they found their tires had been slashed overnight, Lacey Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

Officers Noah Shaffer and Brian Holt responded to the area between Penn Avenue and Lane Place on multiple reports of criminal mischief to motor vehicles. Numerous residents reported that during the evening hours of Tuesday, May 30, 2017, into the morning hours of Wednesday, May 31, 2017, tires to their motor vehicles had been slashed.

The vehicles that were damaged were parked in the driveways and along the street in front of the victims' residences. So far, eight vehicles had their tires slashed, with the combined total damage estimated to be around $3,000, the chief said.
