Lacey Police Officers Lauded By 200 Club Of Ocean County For Rescuing Elderly Woman From 2016 House Fire
The officers and first responders saved an elderly woman's life when a blaze tore through a Serpentine Drive home, police chief says.

Lacey police officers Anthony Sarno and Christopher Meyler, Forked River Fire Department Lt. Rob Anderson and firefighter James Barker didn't hesitate to save an elderly woman from a house fire just after midnight on Nov. 25, 2016.
When they arrived, the fire was already heavily involved, with flames shooting out of the rear of the house.
Two other women, ages 64 and 35, had managed to escape from the garage window and were on the property when firefighters arrived.

When Patrolman Christopher Meyler, Sarno and two Forked River firefighters learned there was still a woman inside, Meyler broke a window in the attached garage. He, Sarno and several others and pulled the 81-year-old owner to safety through a garage window, he said.
"The victim was brought through the window and outside to safety," Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said. The actions of the police officers and firefighters saved the victim's life."

The 200 Club of Ocean County recently honored Sarno, Meyler, Forked River Fire Department Lt. Rob Anderson and firefighter James Barker for their efforts at the 29th annual Awards Reception in Lakewood on June 9, Lacey Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.
The 200 Club of Ocean County is dedicated to the promotion of law, order, and public safety. The awards are given to those who go beyond the call of duty.
