Lacey Police Will Have Enhanced DUI Patrols During Super Bowl Weekend, Chief Says
Patrols started on Friday evening.

Enjoy the game, but don't drink and get behind the wheel on Super Bowl weekend, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.
Lacey police will have additional DUI patrols, including stealth-marked vehicles to conduct the patrols. The initiative starts Friday evening and will continue through Sunday night, he said.
"The township is using specifically dedicated Drunk Driving Enforcement Funds (DDEF Grant) to pay for the enhanced patrols," DiBella said. "The intent of these extra DUI patrols are to make the roadways in Lacey Township as safe as possible for the motoring public. There is zero tolerance in Lacey Township for operating a motor vehicle while DUI. If drivers are caught operating their vehicle while impaired by drugs and/or alcohol they will be arrested."

The chief suggests that anyone planning on going out and drinking consider a designated driver and use public transportation.
"Several DUI arrests in Lacey Township have come as a direct result of a motor vehicle crash investigation," he said. "Some of these crashes have resulted in a fatality. "
