Oyster Creek To Test Emergency Warning Sirens On Tuesday

Sirens are tested twice a year. Test should take place around noon.

Exelon Generation will be testing Oyster Creek's emergency warning sirens next Tuesday, one of two semi-annual tests held each year.

The full-volume sirens will blare around noon on June 6, according to Exelon spokesperson Suzanne D'Ambrosio.

The Oyster Creek emergency warning siren system consists of 42 sirens placed within a 10-mile radius of the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station in Lacey Township. The sirens are not a signal to evacuate, but a warning to tune to a local Emergency Alert Broadcast television or radio station. County emergency management authorities activate the sirens.
