Planning board votes unanimously to approve the new restaurant on Route 9.

LACEY – Taco Bell is coming to town.

The Lacey Planning Board unanimously voted on Monday night to approve a new Taco Bell on the southwest corner of Route 9 and Sunrise Boulevard, according to app.com.

Ketan Shah applied for the 2,145-square-foot and sought variances for street setbacks, since the restaurant will be 95 feet from the street, five feet less than the required 100 feet and sign variances.

Taco Bell is "pretty popular with a lot of people," said board member Robert Laureigh during the meeting. "The biggest question we will get hit with is 'when are we (residents) going to be able to go there'?"

Shah said once all the approvals are obtained, construction will take between three to four months to complete. The Ocean County Planning Board has already approved the project.
