All the money raised from the popular event goes to help the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, which serves nearly 10,000 girls in Monmouth and Ocean counties and approximately 4,000 adult volunteers.
“I am involved in this event because I like to support the organization and the community,” said Burke, who grew up in Hazlet. “The Girl Scouts help young girls become leaders and entrepreneurs. By selling cookies the girls support their organization, experience camaraderie, teamwork and gain a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. That’s good for the girls, our community and our country.”
In addition, Chef Burke’s executive pastry Chef Stu Marx will be whipping up a “welcome dessert” creation of his own for the event, a one-of-a-kind dessert made with the Girl Scout’s new Adventurefuls cookie. Adventurefuls is a brownie- inspired cookie topped with caramel flavored crème with a hint of sea salt.
Tickets for the competition are $80 and may be purchased along with sponsorship opportunities. The night includes bowling, dessert tastings and light snacks. Cash bar is available. www.GSFun.org/TopCookie
Along with Burke, the judges are:
- James Costello, chef and co-owner of Ohana Grill
- Lori Draz, Special Feature, Entertainment and Food Writer
- Nick Lepore, known as the “Burger Buff," host of cheeseburger pop-ups in NJ and beyond
- Marilyn Schlossbach, Executive Chef and Owner of The Marilyn Schlossbach Group
